Mazatlán Film & Theater is a volunteer-run, non-profit cultural center located in the historic Centro district of Mazatlán, Mexico. Our mission is to bring people together through film, live performance, music, and community events. Most of our programming is in English.
With a welcoming lounge, a café-style concession stand, a lending library, and a 49-seat theater equipped with cinema projection, we’ve become a favorite gathering spot for locals and international residents who want to experience the arts in Mazatlán.
What We Offer
Independent & International Films
Our film series features a curated mix of independent releases, international cinema, and select studio productions. Movies are screened twice weekly during the summer — Monday evenings and Wednesday afternoons. Tickets are available at the door for a suggested donation of $50 pesos.
Live Music & Jazz Jam
Every winter season, we host our beloved Jazz Jam on Wednesday evenings from 5–7 pm. Local and visiting musicians come together to play for the love of music, and audiences enjoy an informal, come-and-go atmosphere. Admission is always free. Additional concerts and special music events are scheduled throughout the season — keep an eye on our calendar for upcoming shows.
Reader’s Theater & Stage Readings
We stage several script-in-hand play readings each year, combining simple costumes and multimedia visuals to bring characters and stories to life. Our casts include both experienced actors and newcomers who share a passion for theater. Auditions are open to all — no experience necessary!
Talks, Lectures & Special Events
Our stage also hosts community talks and special events on topics ranging from art, history, and literature to health, lifestyle, and practical living in Mexico. Past events have included author talks, artist presentations, and workshops on local culture and resources.
Who We Are
Mazatlán Film & Theater is a registered non-profit, sustained entirely by volunteers. Our board of directors and event volunteers donate their time to make everything possible — from running the projection booth to serving at the café, managing social media, and greeting guests at the door.
We are proud to be a community-driven organization where everyone can contribute. Some of our volunteers are year-round residents, while others join us during the winter season. All share a love of culture, connection, and Mazatlán.
